Founded in 1965 by Joseph F. Blattler, B.S.L. Machine has been a trusted name in machining and fabrication for over half a century. In 2022, ownership passed to Randy and Helene Morton, who proudly carry on the company’s tradition as a family-owned business built on integrity, quality, and service.
Operating out of a 25,000 sq. ft. facility in Edmonton, B.S.L. Machine is equipped to handle a wide range of industrial projects—from high-precision repairs to large-scale custom manufacturing.

Randy brings decades of hands-on experience and leadership to B.S.L. Machine, with a strong background in the oil & energy industry. His skills span Negotiation, Operations Management, Engineering, Strategic Planning, and Business Development. A Red Seal Journeyman Machinist, Randy trained in Machine Tool Technology at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and has built a reputation for combining technical expertise with entrepreneurial drive.
As President, Randy is committed to continuing B.S.L. Machine’s legacy as a family-owned company known for precision, quality, and integrity—serving clients ranging from local farms to global corporations.
Outside of work, Randy stays active by competing in Ironman triathlons across Canada and internationally. He enjoys running with his wife, Helene, and cheering on the mighty Edmonton Oilers with their family.
Helene Morton

Helene lives an active lifestyle and has a deep appreciation for health, balance, and the outdoors. She excels at promoting the close-knit, family-first culture at BSL, a value that mirrors the way she leads and supports her own family. With a kind heart and a calm, professional demeanor, Helene expertly manages the company’s finances while also contributing to the positive, people-focused environment that defines BSL.
Outside of work, Helene enjoys spending time outdoors, staying active, and getting lost in a good book. When she’s not doing that, she is devoted to caring for her and Randy’s three wonderful daughters, bringing the same dedication, organization, and warmth to her family life that she brings to her role at BSL.
